DAY TO DAY ITINERARY:
Day 1. Depart for New Zealand
Cross the international dateline and arrive on Day 3
Day 3. Arrive Auckland. (2-nights)
Haere mai – Welcome to New Zealand. Transfer to your hotel. The balance of the day is at leisure.
Day 4. Auckland afternoon sightseeing
This morning a tour of Auckland including a visit to Mt Eden, Parnell Village and Paratai Drive. This afternoon travel to the Waitakere Ranges, visit the black sand beach where ‘The Piano’ was filmed and travel into a dense rainforest with tree ferns, Kauri trees and waterfalls.
Day 5. Auckland to Rotorua coach tour (2-nights)
Travel to world famous Waitomo Caves before continuing to Rotorua. Your guided Waitomo Caves tour will be an unforgettable sightseeing experience as you walk through majestic caverns, explore limestone shafts, marvel at the stalactites and stalagmites and enjoy a boat ride through a grotto lit by thousands of tiny native glowworms.
Day 6. Rotorua sightseeing with Maori Concert with Hangi Dinner.
Your morning tour includes Rainbow Springs, Rainbow Farm Te Whakarewarewa thermal reserve and Te Puia Arts and Crafts Institute. Marvel at the natural wonders of Te Puia and explore its thermal valley of geysers, streams of boiling water and hot mud pools and get an insight into Maori culture through performance and traditional carving, weaving and art all created on site. The Agrodome is one of New Zealand’s most loved attractions and is a fun window into the farming culture with a sheep show, shearing and dog trials. Native flora and fauna is on display at Rainbow Springs Nature Park, including New Zealand’s national icon, the Kiwi, where a special Kiwi Encounter lets visitors see the nursery and hatchery for these endangered birds. Tonight enjoy a traditional Maori concert and Hangi (feast). (D)
Day 7. Rotorua to Queenstown. (3-nights)
The morning is at leisure before your flight to New Zealand’s South Island – Queenstown. On arrival transfer to your selected accommodation.
Day 8. Milford Sound Tour coach tour & Cruise.
Travel by coach south into the Fiordland, through Homer Tunnel to Milford Sound. Then board a cruise past mile-high Mitre Peak, along this 16 km long glacially-carved fiord while visiting UNESCO-listed Fiordland National Park. This will be one of the most memorable experiences of your holiday. In the evening return to Queenstown. You can choose to return by scenic small plane instead (extra cost). (L)
Day 9. Queenstown at leisure.
At leisure to enjoy New Zealand’s favorite holiday resort town. Optional tours which can be added are: helicopter scenic flights, jetboating, steamship lake cruise with farm show, white water rafting, Lord of the Rings tours, Skyline Gondola ride & dinner and more.
Day 10. Queenstown to Sydney. (3-nights)
Time at leisure until your flight to Sydney. G’day! Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure.
Day 11. Sydney city sightseeing tour.
This morning during your guided walking tour of the historic Rocks area, you will enjoy views of the harbor and see historic buildings and sandstone stairs whilst wandering through the many alleyways. Your guide will tell you the story of the settlement of New South Wales. An afternoon city tour past the Opera House, Botanical Gardens and the southern beaches including Bondi.
Day 12. Sydney.
Your cruise of Sydney Harbour today includes stops at the Rocks, Opera House, Watson’s Bay and Taronga Zoo. Your ticket is flexible enabling you to take any of the 8 daily departures, spending as long as you wish at each stop before rejoining the cruise. Entrance to the Taronga Zoo, where you can see many native animals including kangaroos and koalas, is included in your ticket.
Day 13. Sydney to Cairns (4-nights. Can be shortened)
Today is at leisure until you are transferred to the airport for your flight to Cairns. Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel.
Day 14. Great Barrier Reef snorkel cruise
Today visit the Outer Barrier Reef. There will be time for a swim (snorkel or dive) and to view the abundant sea life from the underwater observatory and see the beautiful coral from a glass bottom boat. (L)
Day 15. Kuranda Village with Skytrain & Gondola and Aboriginal Experience
Board the Kuranda train for a scenic ride to Kuranda, famous for its markets. Travel into the towering rain-forest on an amphibious army duck. Enjoy an Aussie barbecue lunch and an authentic Aboriginal cultural performance under the canopy of the rain forest. Experience a “Dreamtime” walk with an Aboriginal guide. Throw a boomerang and see Australian native animals including koalas and kangaroos and enjoy a ride on Skyrail. ( L)
Day 16. Cairns At leisure.
A full day for you to enjoy Queensland’s tropical north. Choose an options sightseeing excursions such as: Daintree Rainforest with Cape Tribulation, White water rafting, Hartley’s Crocodile Adventure and more.
Day 17. Depart Cairns.
At leisure until you are transferred to the airport.
